- Restore bulk bins
- General cleaning
- Making signs or displays
- Help with a class

- Other tasks as interests and skills allow
Historically co-ops have utilized the help of working members to keep expenses down and involvement of the members high. If you have an interest in volunteering in the store, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Catherine Rosengren at catlts@hickorytech.net or co-op general manager Sara Hanson at 515-395-COOP or freshconnections@netamumail.com.
Working Member details
Each hour you work equals 1% off your total purchase. You can work up to 10 hours before redeeming your discount. Volunteer hours will be tracked on a monthly basis and members are asked to utilize their discount in the month following the hours they worked. For example, if a working member earned a 10% discount in June, they would need to use their discount in July.
Can I work more than 10 hours a month?
Members can work more than 10 hours a month, but the maximum discount they can receive at one time is 10%. If a member works additional hours, they can earn multiple 10% discounts but they must be used seperately.
Do I have to work 10 hours to receive the discount?
Any hours worked in one month’s time will equal a discount. For instance, if a working member volunteers for 4 hours in one month’s time, they will earn a 4% discount that can be used in the following month.
What if I’m a working member that paid a lesser price for membership? Do I still qualify for these discounts?
If you paid a lesser price for a “working membership” you must either fulfill 20 hours of work or “upgrade” to a consumer membership (for a cost of $50) to qualify for the earned working member discounts. The members of Fresh Connections Co-op voted at the annual meeting held on 4-7-09 that from here on out, the co-op will offer just one form of membership for $100.
